BBC
Radio Devon celebrates 40 years this year on 17th January.
The station went live at 6am on 17th January 1983 from a fairly
ancient sound desk in the studio at Seymour Road in Plymouth
(previously used for Radio 4's "Morning Sou' West" opt out).
Meanwhile the broadcasting from Exeter was to be produced from
a set of portacabin studios until the new building at St.Davids hill
was completed, and opened on 30th September.
